The Comprehensive Observation Experiment for Integrated Air-ground Aerosol Multi Parameter Achieved Preliminary Results TEXT SIZE: A A A

From June 11th to July 25th, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, CAS cooperating with Remote Sensing Institute,CAS did an integrated air-ground comprehensive experiment for measuring aerosol multi parameter in Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan area. This experiment has successfully provided the basic data for the analysis of multi-source aerosol, aerosol microstructure characteristics and macroscopic characteristics correlation technology.

The comprehensive observation experiment for Integrated air-ground aerosol multi parameter in Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan area is a part of a major research program of Ministry of Science Global Change Research. It is divided into two parts: ground-based (June 11-July 13) and air-based (July 6 - July 25). The project team used a variety of instruments and arranged a number of sites to do multi-scale integrated aerosol observation experiment for studying temporal and spatial distribution regularity of atmospheric aerosol.

The ground-based experiment aimed at five typical environment areas including industrial areas, urban areas, agricultural areas, rural suburban, and beach. We chose suitable sites to make fixed point continuous observation in Beijing urban area, Tianjin urban area, Tianjin Tanggu Harbor Industrial Zone, Tangshan Caofeidian industrial zone and countryside, Tangshan urban area, island by using sun photometer, nephelometer, black carbon analyzer, particle counters, micro-pulse Mie scattering lidar, particulate matter sampler and other instruments. Various Optical and physicochemical property data of aerosol were obtained.

Air-based experiment, combined with ground-based experimental sites, has set up several flight routes. Turbidity meter, black carbon instrument, multi-band polarization CCD camera, lidar and other airborne instruments were brought on aircraft to perform a number of flight experiments. Various optical and physicochemical property data such as aerosol concentration, particle distribution, optical thickness, extinction coefficient, and back scatter of aerosol were obtained.

Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Development Zone located in the northeast of the North China Plain is one of the 17 key development zones. The industrial system of this zone is complete. Especially petroleum industry, coal chemical industry, metallurgy industry, marine chemical industry, machinery and electronics industry are well developed. And the energy resource structure is coal-oriented in this zone. All of these factors make the atmospheric aerosol properties change to be typical.
